Divine Story, Benefits, and Sacred Sevas of this Auspicious Puja

Akshaya Tritiya is a highly auspicious day in the Hindu calendar, observed on the third day of the bright fortnight (Shukla Paksha) of the month of Vaisakha (usually April or May). The term "Akshaya" means "never diminishing" or "infinite," and "Tritiya" refers to the third day. This day holds significance due to its association with several divine events and is believed to bring prosperity, wealth, and good fortune to those who observe it with devotion.

History of Akshaya Tritiya:

  • The Blessing of Bhagwan Shri Krishna: According to Hindu mythology, Akshaya Tritiya is the day when Bhagwan Shri Krishna gave the Akshaya Patra (a divine vessel that provided an endless supply of food) to the Pandavas while they were in Van-Vaas, in the Mahabharata. This vessel never ran out of food and symbolized infinite blessings and abundance. The day thus marks the divine provision of wealth, resources, and spiritual fulfillment.
  • The Birth of Maharshi Parashurama: Akshaya Tritiya is also the birthday of Maharshi Parashurama, the sixth incarnation of Bhagwan Vishnu. Parashurama, a Brahmin warrior, is believed to have performed many heroic deeds to protect the world from oppression.
  • The Beginning of Treta Yuga: Another legend states that Akshaya Tritiya marks the beginning of the Treta Yuga, one of the four ages in Hindu cosmology, and is thus a spiritually significant day for the start of a new era.

Significance and Benefits of Akshaya Tritiya:

  • Wealth and Prosperity: The day is considered ideal for starting new ventures, investments, and buying gold/Metals or property. It is believed that any act of charity or investment made on this day will yield eternal and unfading returns.
  • Spiritual Benefits: Prayers and rituals conducted on this day are believed to ensure lasting prosperity, spiritual growth, and the removal of negative energies.
  • Blessings of Lakshmi and Vishnu: It is a day to invoke the blessings of Devi Lakshmi (the goddess of wealth) and Bhagwan Vishnu (the protector of the universe). Worshipping them on this day is said to bring untold blessings and spiritual rewards.
