Divine Story, Benefits, and Sacred Sevas of this Auspicious Puja

Each seva on Sankashtahara Chaturthi is designed to connect devotees with Shri Ganesha, the remover of obstacles and bestower of wisdom and prosperity. Through these offerings, devotees seek relief from difficulties (Sankashta / Vighna Parihaar) and blessings for the fulfilment of their desires (Ishtarta Siddhi), ensuring success and happiness in all areas of life.

  • Abhisheka + Shatanamavali Ashtottararchana  + Mangalarti: The Maha Abhisheka Seva is a deeply purifying ritual that begins with panchamruthabhishek, a sacred bath with a blend of five ingredients: milk (symbolizing purity), yogurt (prosperity), honey (dedication and sweetness), ghee (strength and victory), and sugar (bliss). Together, these ingredients are believed to enhance the quality of life and impart medicinal benefits, including improved immunity. This is followed by Dhravyabhisheka, which uses offerings such as tender coconut, sugarcane juice, sandalwood paste, turmeric, and amla powder. Each ingredient holds symbolic and purifying properties.  The ritual continues with Dhurva-pushpa-patra Shatanamavali Ashtottararchana, where 108 names of Bhagwan Ganesha are chanted with offerings of Dhurva grass, flowers, and leaves. This is a powerful prayer seeking the deity’s blessings to overcome life’s challenges and bring inner peace. The ceremony concludes with Mangalarti, an auspicious light-waving ceremony believed to guide devotees toward divine consciousness and positive energy throughout the day.
  • Gana Homa / Ganapati Homa: The Ganapati Homa, also known as Gana Homa, is a powerful Vedic ritual performed to invoke the blessings of Shri Ganesha through sacred mantras and offerings into the holy fire. This ritual is revered for its ability to foster prosperity, peace, and the removal of obstacles, creating an atmosphere of positivity and spiritual fulfillment. By participating in this ritual, devotees seek Ganesha’s support for success in their personal and professional lives, as well as for peace and harmony within themselves and their surroundings.
  • Sankashtahara Chaturthi Sarva Seva: On the auspicious day of Sankashtahara Chaturthi, devotees can participate in a series of sacred sevas including Gana Homa, Abhisheka, Alankara, Dhurva Archana, Naivedya, Mangalarti, and Prasad Vitaran. The highlight of this celebration is the Ganapati Homa, a ritual believed to bring immense blessings, prosperity, and the fulfillment of heartfelt desires. During the ceremony, the Dhurva Shatanamavali Ashtottara Archana Seva, involving the offering of Durva grass, is believed to attract prosperity and good fortune, fostering success in life’s endeavors.
