The Story of Shri Varaha Swamy

According to Puranic tradition, the powerful Daitya Hiranyaksha caused great disturbance across the worlds and carried Bhudevi, Mother Earth, into the depths of the cosmic ocean. Responding to the prayers of the Devas, Bhagwan Vishnu manifested as Varaha, the mighty divine boar. Shri Varaha entered the cosmic waters, fought Hiranyaksha in a fierce battle and destroyed him. He then lifted Bhudevi upon His tusks and brought her safely out of the waters, restoring her to her rightful place.

This episode is more than the physical rescue of the Earth. Bhudevi represents life, nourishment, stability and the foundation on which our Karma unfolds. Shri Varaha represents the divine power that lifts creation out of chaos, removes forces that obstruct Dharma and restores balance.
